Season's Opener at Arena Essex
21/04/2009

Tramping through the dirt on a cold winter’s day is an unglamorous way to kick-off the UK's 2009 hot rodding season, but the NSRA swap meet, which opened its doors at Arena Essex over the first weekend in March, was the welcome tonic that brought together like minded individuals for the first time since most locked up their cars for the winter. The event is a good place to catch up and find out what’s being going on behind closed doors in the hot rodding community, and to start to look forward to the rest of the year and warmer times ahead.

This year’s event was no different from any other, except that it marked the 20th anniversary of this popular event. The dreary weather was still there but at least it wasn’t snowing. It never ceases to amaze how many individuals are prepared to brave the elements at this time of year for that elusive bargain.
Sadly, DRC staffers were engaged on other duties over the swap meet weekend and we’re grateful to Dave Sturgess who offered to step into the frame with a photographic record of the event. Thanks Dave. Here’s his selection.
